iPhones are just about the most powerful handheld gaming device you could put in your pocket. They feature a Retina display for super crisp graphics and A9/A10 processor for mega fast game play.

The problem with them isn’t power or even graphics. It’s control.

Let’s face it, using on-screen controls on a phone screen (even the Plus) is awkward, doesn’t feel natural, and your fingers get in the way so you can’t see the screen. Well, the Gamevice for iPhone solves that problem.

Also, it’s much cooler than a boring, generic Bluetooth Game Controller. Of sure, they work fine but, the Gamevice for iPhone actually makes your iPhone feel like a gaming device. Not just a phone attached to one.

Able to fit the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 7, and 7 Plus, the Gamevice for iPhone basically turns your phone into something like a Nintendo switch. Minus the new Zelda game, anyway, by placing real controls and buttons on either end of your phone. Oh, and I’m not talking about some cut down set of controls, I mean a whole slew of controls that feel like they belong on a console. Here’s a list of the controls you get…

  • Dual Analog Joysticks
  • A,B,X,Y Buttons
  • D-Pad
  • R1, L1 Bumpers
  • R2, L2 Triggers
  • Menu Button

Pretty cool, right? Along with the controls, you also get a 3.5 mm audio connector (yes, even on the iPhone 7/7 Plus) and a Lightning connector. That way you can hear your game and keep your phone charged up while you play. In theory, you could even use Airplay or a Lightning to HDMI adapter and cable to play your games on a TV (just like a Switch) but, I haven’t tried it.

Oh, and speaking of playing, let’s talk about the compatible games. There are hundreds of big name titles such as Halo: Spartan Strike, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Assassins Creed. Funny enough, these are all games that didn’t work great with touch (IMHO) but, do work great with the Gamevice for iPad. For a complete list of games, visit Gamevice Live.

The astute reader may have noticed that the title of this post is Gamevice for iPhone and iPad. Well, here's the iPad version. There's also an iPad Mini version as well.

So, if you like games and you like your iPhone but have always been a bit disappointed with the controls on your iPhone, give the Gamevice a look.
